Weird Cut from waist down
The Dress (Black): Quality is fine, it is well made, no loose threads, and comfortable- but a bit prone to wrinkles. The neckline is between a scoop and a square, stretchy, and pretty. If you’re wearing the right bra it is very flattering to your chest. The stretchy neckline does kind of ride up and I keep having to pull it down. The buttons are functional and can be easily pulled for nursing access. The sleeves are pretty and puffy and there’s plenty of room. The elastic wasn’t tight around my arms and hits right at my elbow. If you have broader shoulders and don’t want to look wider than you already are, this might not be the best dress - it definitely adds volume around the shoulders upper arms (as any puffy sleeve would do!) The Fit from the waist down is bizarre as all get out. The smocked waist is quite long. On my short torso it stretches from the underside of the curve of my bust (if I pull it below my bra you can see the top of my bra) and highlights my most self conscious parts. It hugs from directly under the bra to the top of your derrière, and if you have any back fat from your bra or just in general, this highlights it. It’s fitted, even while being quite stretchy, around the entire waist and hits me about an 1.5 in above my belly button. This causes the skirt (which has a bit of extra fabric because it’s lined and for it to be fluttery) to bellow out and accentuates my postpartum tummy. At 5’2” I wasn’t expecting this dress to hit where the model did, I’m totally fine with that, it’s the burden of being short. It hits a few inches above my ankles in the back and it actually makes it nicer for winter. But again, I won’t wear this dress in public, it highlights the back roll at the bottom of my waist and I look 4 months pregnant instead of 2 months postpartum. I think taller friends with a longer torso and no back rolls from their bra will find a pretty fit in this dress. If this dress’s smocked waist was half the length, it would miss the back roll and actually be very pretty and flattering and would accentuate the waist in a pretty way and not in a weird one. I’m 8 weeks postpartum, 5’2” 180 lbs and I’m wearing a 38E or a 40DD bra. I normally wear L (somewhat fitted) or XL (a little more roomy). The 1X fits fine, I ordered a size down from what the size chart recommended, but I probably could have sized down even further to an XL. The Brand: I’ll never order from this brand again. I’d love to return this dress, but don’t want to end up with another credit and pay yet another $8.00 in shipping. So I’ve basically throw away $100 + shipping costs for several dresses trying this brand out, and you better believe I’ll be warning all my friends and family away from trying them too. I absolutely loathe that you can’t get a refund in your initial form of payment. If you believe in your brand, your products, and your customer service, why would you feel like you needed to lock someone’s money in? If you’re that great, offer a no risk purchase experience. I would normally purchase a dress, or 2 or 3 dresses, in several sizes to make sure I have one that fits before I decide whether it’s a flattering dress of not. However, if you make a purchase your money is stuck with this brand, they DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS (just store credit), so you definitely can’t purchase 3 dresses to see what fits and flatters you best. I’ve now tried to get a dress for two occasions (Newborn portraits and Christmas portraits) and have not received a dress I feel comfortable being photographed in or even for wearing in general.
pretty, but not as expected
I'm giving this 3 stars for my experience combined with the dress, not necessarily because of the dress itself. I really wanted to love this dress. I ordered it for my baby shower but returned it as soon as I tried it on :( the color in all of the promotional photos is much more cream/off-white looking and the dress is definitely yellow. Like a pastel yellow. Not a good look for me, unfortunately. The fit was as expected, but I would say that it's a bit longer than I thought. I have a long torso and short legs so it came down much further than I would have hoped (I'm 5'2"). Overall, it's pretty but I was bummed that it wasn't what I wanted.
My favourite dress
This is absolutely incredible. It’s so comfortable and has the best flowy skirt. I got a large as per the website but I think a medium would have fit too, there is a good bit of extra space in the bust but I’m not mad about it at all! I need this dress in more colours ASAP!
This dress is so pretty and feminine. I love it so much! Fits true to size. I was a little worried about the bust area being to revealing, but it’s not. It’s perfect and I feel so pretty in it. I ordered the bluebell color and it’s perfect for fall or spring!
Cute but not me
I loved the material, color and even style but it wasn’t for me. I have a pear shape with wider shoulders. I loved the waist detail and even the fluffy sleeves but the amount of fabric on the hip area just accentuated the fact I already have plenty of padding there. Being 20 lbs overweight doesn’t help here. If I was down to what I feel is a healthy weight for me the extra fabric around the hips may have not made me feel like such a muffin it’s so worthy of a photoshoot though—so pretty!
